The last two days have seen the deck frame put up and the decking nearly finished.

28 September 2010
Go away rain!! Lots happening today - more deliveries, the deck is starting to take shape, and we have had a storm this afternoon which has slowed things down somewhat. Banjo makes himself right at home as the 'site dog' and seems to be enjoying all the extra attention and tid-bits :)
Well, there's no way I can use the driveway/carport now - apart from the sand/gravel at the top there are huge beams under the carport.

The deck is starting to take shape. It somehow looks smaller than I thought it would. I can't wait to get out there and see what the views will be like from the edge. The posts in the foreground will be going once the new wall framing is up and the new roof joists go on. Where the posts are will be the back wall of the lounge and will have two big triple-slider doors opening onto the deck.

Some views from our neighbours place. Lots of new materials on site today. One tree cut down. Some holes dug for posts for deck. Clothesline is still there (but I think it is going). Neighbours and I are wondering how the hell they are going to get the new roof joists into the back yard/up that high!! It will be tricky to get a crane in position due to powerlines.... must ask Andrew tomorrow.
And a picture for Geoff at the bottom showing his banksia and one of its new flowers :)

25 September 2010
There is now some scaffolding up (and some branches sacrificied from several grevillias to make room for it). Some more internal stuff has come down and you can see the the original roof joists inside the extension from the 70s. It is getting dusty!!!

Got home today to find the skip almost filled already. Here are some photos of how things are looking after today's round of demolition.

22 September 2010
The airconditioning man came today to take our old one out of the wall. I stayed to introduce him to Banjo hoping that it would be fine to leave Banj in the yard but as soon as I headed out of the driveway he charged the poor guy (no teeth, just scary barking). Banjo spent the day in the bathroom :( One the part of the house they are not working on is secured I suspect he will be staying there no matter how well he seems to get on with the builders! I suspect when we are away he becomes more protective than when we are here... We also got a big red skip in the front yard today and demolition is supposed to start in earnest tomorrow. Yay!

21 September 2010
No sight of builders today... it is still raining... but the sparky came and cleared out all the old lights and power fixtures so demolition can start later in the week. I have to say I was impressed by how well mannered and tidy the electrician was - the place was cleaner after he left than when he arrived :)

They really are here
Well the builders arrived at 7am this morning and of course, it's raining today! No scaffolding yet (would have been dangerously wet) but they have started stripping architraves and door frames out of the lounge room and have started to board up the openings between kitchen/dining room and lounge. I will be sitting in a very dark, very cramped little substitute lounge room by the end of tomorrow! Here are some photos of the snake I saw a few weeks ago and then some evidence that builders are on site :)

Action at last
Scaffolding has arrived! Finally something is happening. Sounds like we will have builders on site sometime next week (at last!) Lucky we are patient people :)
