Some photos from Dilli

Geoff has sent me some photos from 'downtown Dilli' and we thought it easiest to share them here.  I get to see him most days on Skype and we can email frequently.  A bit different to his last trip when we had only one telephone call a week.

He got quite sunburnt in the first few days, says it is really hot and humid and told me last night a packet of crisps costs US$6!  I guess he'll be eating less of those for a while then.

Clear the decks!

We have emptied out the lounge in preparation for the work to start.  We now have one very squishy lounge area in what is normally our dining room.  We don't have a start date yet (we will once certification is complete and that should be really soon) so we are not sure yet how long the cramped conditions will continue.  The plan still seems to be to start sometime during February.

BBQ!

Geoff bought a new BBQ for the deck before we even found a builder or had plans drawn up.  He got a good bargain (on-line auction) and got a great stainless steel model with side/wok burner and rotisserie as well as five regular burners.  We got rid on the old one, which had been passed down from his parents.  It had lived a good life but had started to deteriorate and certainly wasn't good looking enough for a new deck.  He put the new BBQ together today and it looks awesome!

Ta-dah!!

More before photos

Before Photos

Here are some more photos of the deck now before renovations begin.

The current view when sitting - damn wide railing is right at eye-height!

Here is our cat Charlie, relaxing on my chair on the deck.  He loves to sit out there to watch birds and sunbake.

From the ground

Our deck from the ground below.  These were taken when dad was painting the house for us a number of years ago.

Another view

Just found these picture of our view during one of the dust storms in Brisbane during 2009.

And one of a neighbour...
