You can just see the new roof (in between the green sarking and trees in the background). Banjo takes a break at the park with his frisbee. The new floor continues to be installed. The doors are in... but there is an issue - seems we might have someone else's door - some of the seals are on the wrong side and one door doesn't fit properly - the door people are coming on Monday to sort it out. It is a BIG room!!! There is new scaffolding in place that hangs of the rafters. Charlie decided to climb down through a hole to investigate the space between the new floor and the ceiling downstairs and managed to make part of the ceiling downstairs collapse - lucky it is being replaced and he managed to scramble back up through the hole.

The builders came on Monday and got the house tarped right over the old roof space so that everything could dry out. They did a better job than me (but there was no way I was getting on the roof to do it like they did!) and got rid of a lot of the water that was lying around inside. Doors and windows came today, as did roof joists. The old roof sheeting has all been taken off (but the joists/bearers are still there to hold up the tarp since more rain is coming). The louvre windows are in and the new roof joists are about half done. The door frames are huge and really heavy and were carried in via the neighbours yard, up a wobbly plank and in through a space that is now filled by a louvre window. Tomorrow they will finish the roof joists and start removing the old loungeroom floor. They need to level it up since there is a 800mm drop from the middle to the edge where the deck is fixed. It will take a lot of fiddling about and I don't think they are looking forward to it very much. We have decided on balustrades now and they will be ordered tomorrow and will take about 3 weeks to arrive. We can't have horizontal stainless steel wiring because of the height from the ground but have found a place in Sydney that makes vertical ones that meet all the safety/Aust standards http://www.sentrel.com.au/index.html

Didn't get home til it was dark today so the photos aren't the best. The place looks very tidy and I know they didn't have much left to do before they needed to put in the roof joists which will get here on Tuesday next week so I suspect the team might not be on site tomorrow. They put the deck posts in today, papered most of the walls and I'm not sure if they started levelling the lounge floor yet. Someone was coming to measure up the outside for the weatherboards today. Andrew says there will be something to paint by the end of next week *grin*.

'Framing up the walls' for the lounge room nearly finished today. Measurements to be taken tomorrow for the new roof joists. 'Holes' for the new doors and windows are now visible in the framework. Banjo had a long hard day helping out... LOL
Space for high louvre windows.
Almost in the trees!
Space for sliding doors.

Secondly, here are some photos taken from the back yard... (Geoff - note the special job the builders did on your 'water feature').

Go away rain!! Lots happening today - more deliveries, the deck is starting to take shape, and we have had a storm this afternoon which has slowed things down somewhat. Banjo makes himself right at home as the 'site dog' and seems to be enjoying all the extra attention and tid-bits :)
Well, there's no way I can use the driveway/carport now - apart from the sand/gravel at the top there are huge beams under the carport.
View from room under lounge room.

The deck is starting to take shape. It somehow looks smaller than I thought it would. I can't wait to get out there and see what the views will be like from the edge. The posts in the foreground will be going once the new wall framing is up and the new roof joists go on. Where the posts are will be the back wall of the lounge and will have two big triple-slider doors opening onto the deck.
